Hyderabad: Cyber fraudsters duped a businessman of Rs.9.12 lakh on the pretext of investments in the share market.
The man, Chandulal Chowdhary, a resident of Ram Nagar in the city, had received a message from an unknown person on WhatsApp assuring him huge profits on small investments. The conman asked him to download a mobile phone application if he was interested in the job.
“The victim initially transferred Rs.5,000 to the bank accounts provided by the fraudster towards investment in the share market business. Over a period of one week, the man transferred Rs.9.12 lakh to the accounts provided by them,” Hyderabad Cybercrime officials said.
When the man did not get any profit and realized that he had instead lost his money, he approached the Cybercrime police. A case was registered and investigation is on.
