Hyderabad: Two brothers were found dead in Shamirpet Lake on Monday. They were reported missing on Sunday after they went out for sightseeing and following a search operation, their bodies were retrieved from the lake on Monday.

The duo, natives of Bihar, was identified as Goutham (28), an Ayurveda doctor from Varanasi and Nandan (26), a doctor at a private hospital here. According to the police, Goutham came to Hyderabad to see Nandan, a resident of Old Alwal, a week ago and on Sunday around 6.30 pm, they had gone to the Shamirpet Lake on a motorcycle for sightseeing but since then, were missing.

Based on a complaint from their friends, the Alwal police booked a missing case and while the search operation was on, the police team was informed that they could have visited the lake. The Alwal police and Shamirpet police reached the lake and took up rescue operations on Monday morning.

“We reached the lake and with the help of expert swimmers, took up a rescue operation and after about an hour-long operation, retrieved both bodies. They are suspected to have slipped and fallen in the water and drowned,” an official said, adding that the bodies were shifted to hospital for autopsy. A case has been booked and further investigation is on.
