Hyderabad: Burglars strike on city outskirts during Sankranti
A gang of burglars allegedly armed with knives carried out a series of midnight burglaries during Sankranti on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Several houses in Chengicherla, Kanakadurga Colony and Anushakti Nagar were targeted, prompting a police investigation.
Hyderabad: A gang of burglars created panic on the outskirts of the city during the Sankranti festival by carrying out a series of midnight burglaries while allegedly armed with knives.
As per information available, the incidents were reported from Chengicherla in the Medipally area, where the offenders were seen moving around residential colonies late at night.
The gang had conducted prior recce of the locality before executing the burglaries. The accused arrived in a car, targeted multiple houses and fled the scene swiftly after committing the offences.
CCTV footage from the locality captured their movements and is now being examined as part of the investigation.
At least nine to ten houses in Kanakadurga Colony and three houses in Anushakti Nagar were reportedly burgled.
Following complaints from the house owners, the Medipally police, along with the Clues Team, visited the spot and took up investigation.
Police have intensified efforts to identify and apprehend the suspects using CCTV evidence and other technical inputs.
