Hyderabad: A businessman from the city who was planning to sell sheep and goats during the Bakrid festival was duped by cyber conmen of Rs.1.24 lakh.
The victim, a resident of Tolichowki, had checked an online directory for sheep and goat suppliers across the country and called a phone number to talk to a person who introduced himself as a sheep supplier from Rajasthan.
“After fixing a deal, the victim transferred Rs.1.24 lakh to the bank account provided. He was promised 10 sheep,” police said, adding that the man realised later that he was duped when the ‘supplier’ stopped responding to calls. He then approached the police, who have registered a case and are investigating.
