Hyderabad: A case has been registered against Sri Chaitanya Guruji alias Mereddy Sunil Reddy, who runs the Sri Vidya Sadhana Centre in Jubilee Hills, for allegedly harassing a woman by sending her objectionable messages in the name of spiritual practices.
The case was registered by the Jubilee Hills police on the directions of a court following a complaint by the woman’s husband, who is a software engineer.
According to the complaint, Sunil Reddy, who operates the centre on Road No. 71 in Jubilee Hills, allegedly sent inappropriate messages and engaged in personal chats with the software engineer’s wife under the pretext of spiritual practices.
The complainant reportedly approached the police after noticing changes in his wife’s behaviour a few months after their marriage. He alleged that the guru had been sending her objectionable messages, which led to problems in their marital life.
When Vishnudeep Reddy confronted Sunil Reddy over the messages, the latter allegedly threatened to kill him. The software engineer subsequently approached the court, submitting chat records and details of the alleged threats as evidence.
Acting on the court’s directions, the Jubilee Hills police registered a case against Mereddy Sunil Reddy under Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with criminal intimidation, and took up an investigation.
