Hyderabad: The annual Brahmotsavams at Chilkur Balaji Temple will be held from April 7 to 14.

The festival will commence with Ankurarpanam on the evening April 7, symbolizing fertility and abundance by sowing seeds, a statement from Chilkur Balaji said. The main event on April 8 is Dwajarohanam, where the Garuda flag is raised to mark the commencement of the festivities.

On April 10, Kalyanotsavam will be held while on April 12, Rathotsavam will be conducted. On April 13, Ashwavahanam is scheduled and Chakrasnanam will be conducted on April 14. Throughout the festival, religious activities such as daily homas and processions on the temple’s surrounding streets will be observed.

CS Rangarajan, the Archaka of Chilkur Balaji Devasthanam said that Garuda Prasadam for childless women will not be given in April. However since thousands of women had thronged Chilkur Balaji Temple for the same last year, Prasadam will be distributed from May 2025 every Friday for the entire year to benefit thousands of women.

Rangarajan said thousands received the Friday prasadam last year and the divine intervention has resulted in many of them having been blessed with children by the same. Those desirous of prasadam can come to Chilkur by 9 am on any Friday from May.

On the concluding day of the Utsavams, devotees participate in bathing the Sudarshana Chakra in a nearby water body, culminating in the lowering of the Garuda flag, the statement added.
