The crime teams of Asifnagar and Langer Houz police stations
recovered 135 mobile phones and returned them to their owners.
Hyderabad: Already troubled by a tough year, these people had more misery added to their life when they lost their smartphones, along with precious data in them.
However, just as the eventful year was winding to an end, the Hyderabad City Police has given 135 persons a reason to smile. The police successfully tracked their missing/stolen mobile phones and handed it back to them.
Mohd Azeem, 27, a native of Karimnagar who stays in Langer Houz while working at a shopping mall in the city, had lost his mobile in February. “I had purchased the OnePlus 7T phone for Rs 38,000 in February from my savings. I lost my phone within 20 days on February 27. It was my first smartphone and a dream come true from me. I literally fell into depression after someone stole it. You know the feeling of buying something from precious savings,” said Azeem, who got back his phone on Thursday from AR Srinivas, Joint Commissioner of Police (West).
“A person known to Azeem had stolen it and we successfully tracked it down and seized the phone from him,” the police said.
Another person who had a reason to enter 2021 smiling was Ratan Singh of Gudimalkapur. In the first week of May, Ratan Singh noticed that his mobile phone was missing while walking on the Gudimalkapur road.
“After searching for a few hours, I went to the police station. The most important item in the phone were the pictures of all the special moments of my children which I clicked,” Singh said, adding that the loss added to the misery during the lockdown.
A week ago, Singh received a phone call from the police station informing that his phone had been recovered.
“At first, I did not believe it. Then I went to the police station and met the officials who checked my phone details. After confirming it, I came today and collected it,” he said.
RG Siva Maruthi, ACP (Asifnagar) said the crime teams of Asifnagar and Langer Houz police stations traced the lost mobile phones using available technology, after which 135 such phones were returned to their owners.
