The Punjagutta police solved the murder case of a 45-year-old trader, Vishnu Roopani,  who was killed in December last year and arrested one person in connection with the case on Friday. The arrested was identified as Ramesh (32), working as a helper in a real estate office in Ameerpet and a native of West Godavari in Andhra Pradesh.

According to police officials, Ramesh, who was earlier involved in many cases, including murder, mortgaged his car with Vishnu for Rs 20,000. He lost the money playing Casino. Ramesh then started pressuring Vishnu to return the car for which the latter refused.

Angered over this, Ramesh plotted to kill Vishnu and as per the plan, called him for a liquor party in his room at SR Nagar and after consuming alcohol, throttled him to death. He further escaped with the victim’s cash, gold ornaments and scooter. Based on a tip-off, the accused was held near the Punjagutta metro station.
