Hyderabad: Three persons were arrested by the Hyderabad police for allegedly stocking and selling banned tobacco products in Mangalhat and Jubilee Hills. Products worth Rs 5.5 lakh were seized from them.
The arrested were Ram Kishore Kumawat (26), Satish Bajaj (49) and A Sai Baba, said P Rajesh, Inspector, Task Force (West), adding that they were handed over to Jubilee Hills and Mangalhat police stations for further action.
In a separate case, the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (Central) raided a shop at Kavadiguda and seized banned tobacco products worth Rs 1.6 lakh. Acting on a tip-off, the team raided RK Traders and arrested P Arvind Kumar alias Ramu (46) for stocking and selling the banned products, said MA Jaweed, Inspector Task Force (Central).
In a similar incident, the Kulsumpura police raided a house at Mustaidpura and seized three quintals of tobacco stored in the premises. One Sharjeel (28) was taken into custody. “It was sourced by Sharjeel from Gujarat and was being sold to local customers around Puranapul,” said K Shanker, SHO (Kulsumpura). A case was booked.
