Hyderabad: The City Police have refuted allegations levelled by Tahreek Muslim Shabban president Mushtaq Mallik.
In a press note issued on Wednesday, the City Police said Mallik had applied for permission for holding a Unity Rally from Charminar to the Quli Qutb Shah Stadium on Wednesday. After careful examination, permission was denied.
“His statement is full of falsehood, misquoting and twisting facts. Neither officer nor staff has promised him permission as is being claimed by him. It is very unfortunate that he chose to make such unfounded and sweeping allegations against senior police officials by twisting facts,” the note said.
It also said police officers were bound by law to do their duty and take necessary steps irrespective of whoever approaches them and request to accord permission for their programme. All the permissions for rallies are processed as per procedure taking feedback from field officers. The same was done in this case also. It is pertinent to note that Vinayaka Chaturthi is starting from September 10 and there is already a heavy movement of Ganesh idols.
This fact was also informed to the petitioner, the note said, adding that any suggestion of any external influence on this procedure was false.
