Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police have introduced electric scooters for patrolling in the Old City on Wednesday.
Two electric scooters of Hala Mobility were donated by a good Samaritan to the Chatrinaka police.
“The e-bikes will be used for routine patrolling by the police personnel. It will prove to be useful for regular patrolling as the lanes are narrow in the Chatrinaka police station area and there will be effective movement of police personnel in all the areas,” Gajarao Bhupal, DCP (South) said.
The battery operated e-bikes will run for 50 kilometers on charging for three hours and the average speed is 25 kmph.
Abdul Khader Jilani, SHO (Chatrinaka) said the e-bikes would be used by women constables to patrol the areas and interact with women to understand their problems and issues regularly. The Chatrinaka police were already are using electric bicycles for patrolling and the local SHO along with the Blue Colt teams moves around on the cycles to enforce the lockdown and night patrolling.
The Cyberabad Police too recently began using e-scooters for patrolling in the IT corridor.
