Hyderabad: Couple adopts Galapagos Giant Tortoise at Nehru zoo
Zoo’s deputy curator A Nagamani who received the cheque for the adoption appreciated the keen interest shown by Saroj Devi in adopting the Galapagos Tortoise for the period of one year

Hyderabad: The 121 year-old Galapagos Giant Tortoise at the Nehru Zoological Park was adopted by a city-based animal lovers.
According to the zoo officials, Saroj Devi along with her husband Ashish Kumar and family members today visited the zoo and handed over a cheque for Rs 30,000 to the authorities towards adoption of the Giant Tortoise which given its age of 121 years is fondly referred to as zoo’s senior most member.
Zoo’s deputy curator A Nagamani who received the cheque for the adoption appreciated the keen interest shown by Saroj Devi in adopting the Galapagos Tortoise for the period of one year. “Support like this strengthen the wildlife conservation initiatives in the zoo,” she said.
Saroj Devi appealed to other citizens also to come forward for adoption of animals at the zoo.
