Hyderabad: A youngster escaped with two puppies worth Rs 25,000 after hoodwinking a couple running a pet shop under the Chilkalguda police station limits here on Sunday.
The couple approached the Chilkalguda police and lodged a complaint alleging they were duped by an unidentified youngster who bought two puppies and in the guise of making an e-wallet payment, cheated them. The couple identified as Naveen and Keerthi, who run a pet shop in Namalgundu area, were approached by a young man on Saturday afternoon asking for puppies. He purchased two puppies for Rs 25,000.
“At the time of payment, he told them he would pay Keerthi via e-wallet. He also showed a message that the transaction was completed. He left the spot immediately. Sometime later, when she checked, the amount was not credited into her bank account,” police said, adding that it was then that the couple realised that they were cheated using a fake e-wallet app.
The Chilkalguda police are investigating.
