Hyderabad: The Chilkalguda police on Friday arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly abetting the suicide of a 19-year-old woman, which was reported earlier this week.
The suspect, identified as P Jagadeesh of Ram Nagar, was taken into custody in connection with the death of G Janimma, who ended her life by hanging at her house in Srinivas Nagar on March 17.
According to police, the two were in a relationship for several months, during which frequent disputes arose after the accused reportedly began suspecting the woman’s character. He then allegedly subjected her to continuous harassment, abuse and threats, including warning that he would reveal their relationship to her family.
On the morning of the incident, Jagadeesh allegedly visited the victim’s house and had an argument before leaving. Shortly afterwards, the woman sent a distress message to a friend of the suspect and died by suicide.
Police said digital evidence, including Instagram chats, has supported the allegations of continuous mental harassment.
