Hyderabad: A local court on Wednesday has granted five-days police custody of ‘iBomma’ founder Immadi Ravi (popularly known as iBomma Ravi), who was recently arrested by the Hyderabad Police in the nationwide piracy case.
The investigation officials had earlier filed a petition seeking one-week custody informing the court that further interrogation was essential to uncover the network behind the large-scale movie piracy operation.
After hearing the arguments from both sides, the court allowed their request and granted five days of custodial interrogation.
According to the police, Ravi used specialised software to hack newly released films and uploaded them to the ‘iBomma’ website within a few hours of their theatrical release.
The police have already frozen over Rs 3 crore found in his bank accounts, suspecting that the money was earned through the illegal streaming platform and by promoting betting apps on it.
Officials also alleged that Ravi earned several crores through betting apps, which they believe are linked to the piracy network.
