Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Customs’ Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) seized 2.271 kg of gold worth about Rs 3.36 crore at RGIA and arrested two Indian passengers who arrived from Kuala Lumpur.

Acting on intelligence, AIU officers intercepted the passengers after their arrival on June 25. During a detailed frisking and examination, officers recovered gold concealed in paste form inside specially stitched pouches hidden along the waistline of the trousers worn by the passengers. The pouches were wrapped in white cellophane tape.

Officials said the concealed material was extracted with the assistance of a goldsmith for further examination.

Further investigation is underway.
