Hyderabad: A suspect, wanted by the Cyberabad Police in a cybercrime case, was injured after he allegedly attempted to escape from custody in New Delhi on Friday.
The Cyberabad Cybercrime team had gone to Delhi a few days ago after receiving info on the whereabouts of the suspect, who was allegedly involved in a Rs.38 lakh cheating case. Police said they nabbed him on Friday morning and shifted him to the Telangana Bhavan for questioning and safe custody till returning to Hyderabad.
At the Bhavan, he allegedly requested the team escorting him to allow him to relieve himself, which they did. However, the suspect allegedly escaped through the ventilation on the fourth floor and started scaling down along a drainage pipe. However, he slipped and fell in the process.
By this time, the police team nabbed him and since he was injured, tried to shift him to hospital in an ambulance. However, the ambulance did not start due to a technical snag, after which the cops shifted him to hospital in an auto.
“His condition is said to be stable,” a senior police official said.
