Hyderabad: Death toll rises to five in adulterated toddy case near Kukatpally
One more person died after consuming adulterated toddy sold in the Kukatpally area, taking the toll to five in Hyderabad. As of Monday, Gandhi Hospital reported 16 cases, with several patients still under treatment and some discharged.
Hyderabad: The toll after consuming adulterated toddy in several toddy compounds located in and around the Kukatpally area in Hyderabad has continued to climb, as one more patient, Gangamani, died at Gandhi Hospital in the early hours of Monday.
With this, the total number of persons who died after consuming adulterated toddy has reached 5 in Hyderabad. Till Monday, a total of 52 patients have been admitted to Gandhi Hospital and Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) after consuming adulterated toddy in Hyderabad.
“As of Monday, there are 16 patients admitted to Gandhi Hospital. One patient, Gangamani, expired, while three have left against medical advice. A total of four patients would be discharged on Monday,” a senior hospital official said on Monday.
Meanwhile, at NIMS, a total of 36 patients have been admitted following the consumption of adulterated toddy. “A total of 23 patients are currently undergoing treatment. All necessary medical care is being provided to the patients. So far, 13 patients have been discharged, and seven are clinically stable and fit for discharge. The situation is being closely monitored,” NIMS said.
