Hyderabad: The Hare Krishna Golden Temple in Hyderabad on Wednesday celebrated Govardhana Puja and Karthika Deepotsavam with a large turnout of devotees participating in the rituals organised by the Hare Krishna Movement (HKM), Hyderabad.
The highlight of the celebration was a replica of Govardhan Hill, accompanied by an Annakuta offering comprising 56 varieties of traditional sweets and savouries. The prasadam was first offered in earthen pots and patras to Lord Radha Govinda before being displayed for darshan and parikrama by devotees.
The rituals included the sacred Gau Puja and Pallaki Utsavam, honouring Srila Prabhupada and Radha Govinda. The Karthika Deepotsavam began with the lighting of the auspicious Karthika Deepam, followed by a grand Damodara Arati to Sri Yashoda Damodara.
Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa, president of HKM Hyderabad, spoke about the significance of Govardhana Puja. “The divine pastime of Lord Krishna lifting Govardhan Hill to shield the inhabitants of Vrindavan from Indra’s wrath stands as a beacon of the Lord’s boundless mercy,” he said.
The celebrations concluded with a massive prasadam distribution for devotees, HKM Hyderabad stated.
