Hyderabad: A 29-year-old eye specialist working at L V Prasad Eye Hospital died when he fell off a fly over on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Rajendranagar in the early hours Monday.

The victim Dr Nilay Reddy, who worked as Cornea and Anterior Segment Fellow at LVPEI, was on his way to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, from his residence in Jubilee Hills. The accident happened on the flyover at exit-17 of ORR.

“The doctor was driving his car at a high speed and lost control over. The car overturned and got dragged for nearly 100 metres before hitting the crash guard railing. Subsequently, the car’s door opened and the victim was thrown away from the vehicle on the service road. He died on the spot,” said Rajendranagar Inspector, K Kastro.

The police on information reached the spot and shifted the body of the doctor to Osmania General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. A case is registered. The police suspect the accident occurred due to over speeding.
