Hyderabad: Doctors at Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospitals, Secunderabad on Thursday announced successful treatment of a 51-year-old patient from Hyderabad, who had been suffering from severe scrotal (testicular) pain for the past eight months, without performing surgery.

Due to the medical condition, the patient endured pain while sitting, standing, or even lying down, significantly affecting his quality of life.

Interventional pain specialist, Dr. Anusha Karumuri used advanced cryoablation technology, which is carried out through a minimally invasive needle-based procedure.

Dr Anusha identified the exact pain-generating area using ultrasound guidance and performed the cryoablation therapy, which involves inserting a thin needle into the affected area and delivering extremely cold gas through it, that temporarily disables the pain-transmitting nerve cells. As a result, the patient experienced immediate relief from pain.

“The treatment does not require surgery and can be completed in a short duration. It offers long-term relief with minimal discomfort,” Dr. Anusha Karumuri.

Doctors added that cryoablation therapy can also be used to treat several other chronic pain conditions affecting different parts of the body.
