Hyderabad doctors warn of back and neck pain from long commutes and poor roads
Ahead of World Spine Day on October 16, CARE Hospitals doctors warned that long commutes, poor posture and uneven roads can aggravate back and neck pain. They recommended regular movement breaks, ergonomic seating, physiotherapy and early medical consultation.
Hyderabad: Ahead of World Spine Day on October 16, doctors at Care Hospitals have issued a warning that long daily commutes, traffic congestion, and bumpy, pothole-ridden roads are significantly aggravating back and neck pain among working professionals and commuters.
Specialists noted that prolonged sitting, poor posture during long hours of desk or laptop work, and the repeated physical jolts experienced by two-wheeler riders and cab drivers on uneven roads can strain the spine and worsen existing conditions.
Dr. Randhir Kumar, Clinical Director and Senior Neurosurgeon in a press release said that daily commuting strain and continuous sitting frequently lead to muscle stiffness and discomfort.
Similarly, Dr. Praveen Goparaju, Senior Spine Surgeon, said that while low back pain is a leading global cause of disability, most cases can be effectively managed through lifestyle modifications, proper seating posture, physiotherapy, and early medical consultation rather than surgery.
Doctors advise citizens not to ignore persistent discomfort and recommend taking regular movement breaks, maintaining correct ergonomic alignment, and addressing spinal symptoms promptly.
