Hyderabad: Excise STF seizes 92 liquor bottles in vehicle check drive

The Excise Special Task Force in Hyderabad seized 92 bottles of non-duty-paid liquor and three cars during a special drive near Pahadi Shareef.

Hyderabad: The Excise Special Task Force (STF) foiled an attempt to transport non-duty-paid liquor near Pahadi Shareef and seized 92 bottles during a special vehicle checking drive on Thursday.

Three cars allegedly used for the smuggling were also seized.

Following a tip-off about liquor being brought from Goa via the airport route, the STF team conducted inspections in four phases and registered separate cases.

In the first instance, 23 bottles and a car were seized and four persons were booked. In the second, officials confiscated 34 bottles and a car, booking five individuals. The third case led to the seizure of 21 bottles and another car, with six persons charged. In the fourth case, 14 bottles were recovered.

Altogether, 15 persons were booked under relevant excise laws. The accused and seized vehicles were handed over to the Meerpet Excise Station for further action.
