Hyderabad: Atmosphere at the Gandhi Hospital mortuary turned emotional at once, when the hospital staff brought out the bodies of lecturer of a private college, Chandrasekhar Reddy (40), his wife Kavita (35) and two children daughter Shrita Reddy (15) and son Vishva Reddy (10) and handed them over to the family members after autopsy on Tuesday afternoon.
Several family members, relatives and friends reached the hospital.
The Osmania University police, involved in the investigation, said that he was upset over his chronic illness and severe financial crisis and had decided to end his life along with his wife and children.
The investigators have reportedly recovered a suicide note purportedly written by Chandrasekhar Reddy from their house in Habsiguda. In the note, Chandrasekhar Reddy wrote that nobody was responsible for his death and the deaths of his family members. He said he was upset over failure in career, chronic health issues and debts.
However, Chandrasekhar’s father Rajaiah said the former did not seem that he was upset over something.
“They had recently come to the native place and stayed for a few days. He seemed to have been all fine. He did not share anything with us. We have property back in our native place on his name. Then, why would he have any financial problems,” he lamented.
“The couple would always be seen together. The family was very friendly and cordial with the neighbours. They spoke very less and to the point,” said A Lakshmi, a neighbour.
On Monday night around 8pm, the local residents heard the children screaming, but they thought them to be playing and ignored.
“Usually, both children play with the children in the colony every day after their tuition in the evening. During their play time, they shout and make noise. Even on that day, we heard children screaming, but we thought they could be playing,” she said.
Meanwhile, OU Inspector Rajender said preliminary investigation, suicide note and statements from the family members indicated financial problems to be the reason for the murder-suicide. However, all possible angles were being probed.
