Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a couple died by suicide after consuming an unknown pesticide, allegedly due to severe financial distress, at Thatti Annaram in Nagole on Thursday.

The couple, identified as Mallesha and his wife Santoshi, had been struggling with mounting debts and are believed to have taken the extreme step. While Santoshi died on the spot, Mallesha, who was shifted to Gandhi Hospital in a critical condition, later succumbed during treatment.

The incident came to light on Friday after the couple’s son lodged a missing complaint at the Chaitanyapuri Police Station.

During the subsequent investigation, the police traced them and discovered the sequence of events leading to the tragedy.

Further investigation is on.
