Hyderabad: Twelve persons were rescued from a building that caught fire at Asifnagar on Saturday morning.

According to the fire officials, the fire broke out in a building where a furniture-making and repair workshop is located. The workers noticed smoke coming from the workshop around 4.20 am and alerted the fire department.

Firefighters from different fire stations rushed to the spot and took up fire fighting operations and rescue efforts. “In the cellar, ground and first floor, the furniture workshop is running while on the upper two floors, 12 workers are staying. On reaching the spot, we rescued the workers who were trapped in the building,” said T Venkanna, District Fire Officer, Hyderabad.
