Hyderabad: Fire doused in Cherlapalli

A total of 10 fire engines along with dozens of fire department personnel and local police worked hard to bring the fire under control

Hyderabad: The massive fire that broke out at Sarvodaya Solvent Chemical Factory in Cherlapalli industrial area came under control after hours of firefighting in the early hours of Wednesday.

A total of 10 fire engines along with dozens of fire department personnel and local police worked hard to bring the fire under control. The fire which erupted around 6 pm on Tuesday, was doused off around 3 am on Wednesday.

The chemical reactors exploded in the factory, resulting in a four-storey building collapse. However, nobody was injured in the incident. Fire spread to surrounding industries causing panic among the residents of the neighbourhood.

Thick smoke billowed out of the factory followed by huge flames creating panic in the surroundings. The local people rushed out of their houses fearing the fire might spread to the residential areas.

On information, the fire fighters from nearby fire stations rushed to the spot and surrounded the factory. The local police cordoned off the area.

The chemical barrels stored inside the factory started exploding one after the other hindering the firefighting operations for some time. The worth of the property damaged is estimated to be around Rs 16 crore.
