Fire breaks out in Cherlapally industrial area in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad: A massive fire broke out at a chemical factory in Cherlapally in city outskirts on Tuesday evening.
The fire started around 6 pm following an explosion in the factory. Thick smoke billowed out of the factory followed by huge flames creating panic in the surroundings. The local people rushed out of their houses fearing the fire might spread to the residential areas.
On information, the fire fighters from nearby fire stations rushed to the spot and surrounded the factory. The local police cordoned of the area.
The chemical barrels stored inside the factory started exploding one after the other hindering the fire fighting operations for some time. At least six fire tenders from nearby fire stations were pressed into operation to douse the fire that was menacingly spreading in the factory.
The fire fighting operation was continuing till late in the night and the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
