Hyderabad: A five-month-old fetus, wrapped in a plastic bag, was found in the garbage on the roadside at Anjanapuri Colony in Alwal here on Thursday morning. Police suspect it was dumped there by the parents.
Locals who noticed the fetus informed the police, following which the Alwal police shifted it to the Osmania General Hospital morgue. A case was booked and is being investigated.
“We suspect the fetus, the gender of which is yet to be confirmed, was aborted and left here in the garbage,” police said adding that the record of recent deliveries was being done to trace the parents.
Footage from surveillance cameras in the locality was also being examined to trace those who dumped it there. The colony residents said it could be the work of those residing nearby as there are no hospitals or nursing homes in the surroundings.
