Hyderabad: Food Safety teams detect severe violations at NALSAR University canteen
During inspections of the canteen operated by Sri Sai Ganesh Caterers, the teams discovered rat droppings and a cockroach infestation in the kitchen storeroom, along with the absence of pest control records and water quality analysis reports.

Hyderabad: The food quality inspecting teams of Commissioner of Food Safety, Hyderabad conducted inspections in the canteen of NALSAR University, Shamirpet and reported multiple violations under the Food Safety and Standards Authority Act of FSSAI.
The teams during inspections in the canteen, being operated by Sri Sai Ganesh Caterers, detected rat faeces and cockroach infestation in kitchen store room and non-availability of pest control records and reports related to water quality analysis.
The FSSAI license was obtained on registered address instead of food preparation premises and the FoSTaC (food Safety Training Certificate) trained supervisor was not available.
“About 90 kilograms of unlabelled raw Rajma was found. Muskmelon seeds (20 kg) used for preparing gravy was found to have infested the insects and discarded. About 30 kilograms of green gram was found without packing date, expiry date and batch number,” the report from the food quality inspecting teams said.
The windows and doors of the preparation area, dining area did not have insect proof screens. The floor was found to be slippery in the preparation area. Temperature records were not maintained and raw materials were kept on the floor without pallets, the Commissioner of Food Safety said.
