Hyderabad: Four jailed for assaulting Assistant Engineer

The convicts are, K Balreddy, Nagaraju, Mahesh and Laddu

Hyderabad: Four persons were on Monday sentenced to one year Rigourous Imprisonment for assaulting an Assistant Engineer on duty at the Jalpally village electricity sub-station three years ago.

In October 2017, Krishna, an outsourcing employee, working as helper with the Electricity Department, was repairing the fuse work at a transformer in the village. The Substation operator, K Raju switched on the main power supply negligently, due to which Krishna suffered burns due to electric shock and died on the spot.

Following this, K Balreddy, Nagaraju, Mahesh and Laddu got enraged, barged into the substation and beat up the AE G Shyam Prasad. Based on a complaint, all suspects were taken into custody.

While others were acquitted, the four were convicted and sentenced to undergo imprisonment.
