Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a 45-year-old painter was abducted, sexually assaulted and brutally murdered by four youths in Nacharam on Monday.
The victim, who was a resident of Kalyanapuri in Uppal, had gone to his brother’s house in Jillelaguda in Saroornagar on Sunday night and when he was near LB Nagar, he had requested a lift from four youths who were traveling in a car.
The suspects identified as Mohd Junaid alias Jaffer (18) of Raghavendra Nagar, Sheikh Saifuddin (18) of Indiranagar, P Manikanth (21) of Karthikeya Nagar, and a minor from KL Reddy Nagar in Mallapur, were reportedly intoxicated at the time.
According to the police, the youths offered him a lift up to Uppal Ring Road, but soon began sexually harassing and assaulting him inside the moving vehicle. When the car slowed down near the NGRI area, the victim attempted to escape but failed.
Later, on Monday around 3 am, the assailants took him to an isolated industrial area in Nacharam, where they stabbed him multiple times with a knife and left him bleeding. Assuming he had died, they fled from the spot.
The victim, however, managed to run up to a short distance before collapsing on the road. Locals found him around 5:30 am and informed the police. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, during which he reportedly told the police that he had been kidnapped and sexually assaulted before succumbing to his injuries.
Based on the dying declaration of the victim, the Nacharam police booked a case and with the help of CCTV footage and technical evidence, identified and nabbed the suspects.
