Hyderabad: Free lunch programme launched at Govt Mental Hospital

Bhojanamitra aims to feed underprivileged attendants of patients on a daily basis in government and other hospitals.

Hyderabad: The Hare Krishna Movement has launched Bhojanamrita, a free lunch programme at the Government Mental Hospital, Erragadda. The initiative aims to feed underprivileged attendants of patients on a daily basis in government and other hospitals.

As part of the initiative, the Hare Krishna Movement will be providing nutritious lunch to 120 attendants every day at the hospital. The meal will include rice, sambar, sabji, pickle and buttermilk and sweet once a week. Superintendent of the hospital Dr Sri Uma Shankar, RMO’s and others were present at the launch of Bhojanamitra.


President of the Hare Krishna Movement, Sri Satya Gaura Dasa Prabhuji, thanked the sponsor, Tushar R Popat of M/S RM Automobiles, Secunderabad, as well as the hospital management and staff for their support.

Currently, the programme feeds 2,080 beneficiaries every day at various hospitals under the Bhojanamrita initiative. A total of 14 hospitals, including Osmania General Hospital, Government Chest Hospital, Gandhi General Hospital, Indo-American Cancer Hospital, and Niloufer Government Hospital, are a part of this initiative.
