Hyderabad: The GeoMap Society and Department of Geography at Osmania University plan to celebrate the International Geographic Information System (GIS) day on November 17, which is observed on the third Wednesday of November every year.
As part of the celebrations, there will be a lecture by Major Gen R Siva Kumar (Veteran), Former Head National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI), Dept Of Science and Technology, Government of India, which will be inspired by the contribution of GS Kumar, the founder President of GeoMap Society.
An essay competition on ‘Interdisciplinary Approaches and Applications in GIS/Mapping’ will also be conducted for students from all streams, with a word limit of 1500 words, and should be emailed to geomapsociety@gmail.com before November 15. Four best entries will win cash prizes, and all the participants will be awarded a certificate.
