Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) received 90 rain-related complaints from Wednesday till 5 pm on Thursday after the rains lashed the city.
According to the officials, 86 of these complaints were resolved while work on the remaining was in progress. The civic body’s assistant city planners were instructed to ensure that all the dilapidated structures were vacated, sealed or demolished.
After Wednesday night’s rains, parts of GHMC LB Zone, which included residential localities of Saroornagar, Nagole and Hayatnagar were inundated. Water gushed into some homes located in East Anandbagh in Malkajgiri, parts of Boduppal and the old city. Traffic was halted at Lingampally bridge due to water logging and frothing of Saroornagar lake was also one of the issues faced by people living in and around the lake.
The GHMC pressed into service its monsoon action teams and Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams with all the teams on the job round the clock to bring back normalcy in localities that were inundated.
In Ayyapa Colony LB Nagar GHMC staffers went around the locality in a boat on Thursday. “The staffers did a recce of the area in a boat and checked the houses to ensure no untoward incident occurs due to rains,” said a GHMC official.
