Proposals were being prepared for development and maintenance of the stormwater drain network.
Hyderabad: A meeting to revamp stormwater drains in and around the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits was held here on Monday. The State government has already accorded administrative sanction of Rs 850 crore to strengthen the stormwater drain network in the city and its peripheries.
At the review meeting, officials from the Strategic Nala Development Plan (SNDP) wing said proposals were being prepared for development and maintenance of the stormwater drain network. The wing was exclusively set up to address issues pertaining to urban flooding.
The meeting was attended by Mayor G Vijayalakshmi, GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar and other officials.
Kumar instructed the civic body officials to share the work pertaining to drains with MLAs as well as corporators, and asked GHMC officials to make sure progress of desilting works is geo-tagged. The Mayor said citizens were sending complaints on Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms to Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao, and asked officials to take immediate action on such complaints.
