Hyderabad: The Government City College has received an extension of autonomous status for nine years (ratification for the last four academic years and fresh extension for the next five academic years) i.e. till 2025-26.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) declares the autonomy status by examining the performance of educational institutions with a rich history, sufficient infrastructure, and best teaching-learning practices, Government City College principal Dr P Balabhaskar said in a press release on Friday.
The Government City College was conferred with autonomy status in 2004 and it was renewed in 2011. The UGC expert committee visited the college on July 31 and August 1 to examine the performance of the college and decide on the continuation of the autonomous status further.
On conferment of autonomous status, the institutions will have the liberty to conduct academic activities, administration, and examinations in the college independently rather than affiliated to a university, Dr Balabhaskar added.
