Hyderabad: GRMB emergency meeting on August 9

Hyderabad: The 10th emergency meeting of Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) will be conducted on August 9 at 11 am at GRMB conference hall at Jal Soudha in Errum Manzil here.

The decision of the Ministry of Jal Shakti to hold emergency meeting assumed significance as Telangana abstain from the coordination committee meeting convened by the Ministry on Tuesday demanding that a full board meeting be first convened to discuss various issues pertaining to the State.

In a letter addressed to all the board members, GRMB member secretary B P Pandey explained about the agenda for the meeting.

The 10.1 Clause (i) of paragraph-1 of Gazette Notification S.O. No. 2843 (E) dated July 15, 2021 along with 10.2 Clause (a) of paragraph-2 of the notification regarding approval and putting in place an appropriate organizational structure to perform functions mandated by the notification and to identify the category of posts to be filled from officers serving in the Central government is included in the agenda.

This is apart from discussing implementation of other clauses of the notification is also in the agenda. Pandey requested all the board members to make it convenient to attend the meeting with necessary documents on the agenda points.

Meanwhile, the Krishna River Board Management (KRMB) has once against deferred its inspection to Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (RLIS). Following directions from the National Green Tribunal (NGT), a team from the board is supposed to visit the project site and submit a detailed report to the tribunal.

But the board has postponed the visit to RLIS site. The officials of Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Department made it clear that Telangana officials should not be the part of the board team, which is supposed to inspect RLIS site.
