Hyderabad: Hero Lectro Cargo (HLC) and Swiggy are partnering to pilot the deployment of cargo e-bikes in Hyderabad for the use case of last mile food delivery. The food delivery platform will utilise Hero Lectro’s WINN, a purpose-built e-bike to optimise efficiency, cost and reduce carbon footprint.
The pilot program in the city where Swiggy’s delivery partners will make food deliveries on e-bikes will be launched this month. This is being done in association with Fast Despatch Logistics, a leading last-mile delivery provider and AS Group, a public bike sharing firm.
The pilot also comes at a time when the government has been pushing for e-mobility for cleaner and better-quality air, a press release said.
“These bikes are purpose-built and are economically and ergonomically viable. They will help companies like Swiggy to make their deliveries more sustainable,” said Partha Choudhary, president and CEO, Hero Lectro Cargo.
Emphasising on Swiggy’s commitment to go green, Shivcharan Pulugurtha, SVP, Business Operations at Swiggy, said, “We are committed to deliver in a sustainable, environment-friendly way. This association reflects this commitment. By 2025, we aim to cover deliveries spanning 8 lakh kilometres every day through electric vehicles.”
