Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday held the Congress government responsible for the food poisoning tragedy at the Institute for Mental Health in Erragadda, where one patient died and 69 others were hospitalised. He termed the incident a reflection of the administrative collapse under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

In a statement, Rama Rao said Hyderabad, once known for its progress and order during the BRS regime, was now in a state of disarray under Congress rule. He took a dig at the government’s focus on hosting beauty pageants amid what he described as widespread failures in governance.

“Beauty pageants do not make a city beautiful, but effective governance does,” he remarked, alleging that the Congress rule had become a curse for Telangana’s progress.

Rama Rao criticised the Congress government for allegedly supplying substandard food to residential welfare schools and government hospitals, thereby endangering the lives of students and patients. He also questioned the delay in the distribution of textbooks to government school students.

He further alleged that several key departments, right from Home, Education, Irrigation and Municipal Administration to Agriculture, and Health were in a state of disarray. The Congress government, he said, had undone a decade of developmental progress achieved under the BRS administration.
