Hyderabad: Khairatabad RTA collects Rs 43.57 lakh in fancy number auction

Hyderabad: The Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Hyderabad Central Zone at Khairatabad, collected Rs 43.57 lakh through a special auction of premium vehicle registration numbers held on Tuesday, indicating strong interest in high-value numbers.
The top bid of the auction was for registration number TG 09 J 9999, which was purchased by Keystone Infra Private Limited for Rs 18 lakh.
Transport Department officials said the number attracted intense bidding and emerged as the costliest of the day. Several fancy and preferred numbers received competitive bids from both corporate entities and individual vehicle owners.
Other numbers also contributed significantly to the revenue, with bids ranging from over Rs 7 lakh to Rs 1 lakh, reinforcing the popularity of distinctive registration numbers.
Such special auctions have become a reliable source of non-tax income for the Transport Department.
