Hyderabad Kirana Merchants Association warns members against food adulteration

The Hyderabad Kirana Merchants Association has resolved to take disciplinary action, including terminating membership, against traders found involved in food adulteration or other unethical practices, while urging members to strictly comply with food safety laws and FSSAI regulations.

Hyderabad: At an emergency general body meeting held on Thursday, the Hyderabad Kirana Merchants Association (THKMA) resolved to initiate disciplinary action, including termination of membership, if any of its members is found guilty of indulging in food adulteration, polishing, colouring, or any other unethical food business practice.

The emergency meeting was held to discuss the recent enforcement actions relating to food safety and to create greater awareness among its members regarding compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act and FSSAI regulations.


THKMA president, Damodardas Vijaywargiya, secretary, Avinash Devda, and other office bearers said the Association is firmly against food adulteration, polishing, artificial colouring of food raw materials, misbranding, and all other unethical or illegal trade practices. The Association said it will not support or protect any individual engaged in such activities.

Members were advised to ensure strict compliance with all applicable food safety laws, maintain the highest standards of quality and hygiene, and conduct their businesses transparently and ethically.
