Hyderabad: The Medipally police on Tuesday arrested a lawyer on charges of grabbing land by cheating and forgery.
According to the police, Shekar Yadav (45) from Chengicherla had fraudulently procured fake certificates of one Nageshwar Rao, a resident of Musheerabad, claiming that the latter died over two decades ago, even though he had died recently due to Covid-19. Using the fake documents, he forged documents of Rao’s relatives too and grabbed Rao’s land.
The cheating came to light two months ago when Rao’s wife Sharada, a government employee, went to see the plot and found construction going on there. She approached the Medipally police, who booked a case and took up investigation. Investigation revealed that Yadav was involved in similar cases earlier as well, posing as a scribe and lawyer practising at the Telangana High Court.
