Hyderabad: Licence of Central Kitchen of Sri Chaitanya at Khanamet suspended

Hyderabad: The Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana State on Monday has suspended the licence of the Central Kitchen of Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions, operated by M/s Sri Vasista Educational Trust, Khanamet, Madhapur, with immediate effect.
The Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana had conducted inspections of the facility on January 24, 2025 and even earlier in June, 2024. “It has been identified that there is repeated non-compliance from the establishment. Considering the impact of the health of consumers and as per the provisions available under the FSS Act, 200, the license of the establishment has been suspended by the concerned Designated Officer, with immediate effect,” the Commissioner of Food Safety said.
During the earlier inspections, the Commissioner of Food Safety had spotted multiple safety violations in the Central Kitchen and had directed the management to take action.
Some of the violations in the kitchen included non-availability of water analysis reports, pest control records and Fostac certificates of employees. The kitchen refrigerators were not cleaned properly and were found to be unhygienic while the flooring was found to be patchy and wet with littering of food waste at some places.
The inspecting teams also observed live cockroach infestation and rodent feces at several places and absence of rodent traps in the storage. The foods handlers were found to be without aprons, gloves etc and the Central Kitchen had (12) transport vehicles but the FSSAI licence of the FBO did not include transport category and there was also no separate FSSAI licence for transport vehicles.
During inspections, the drains in the kitchen floor were found to be broken at places and are also not fitted to meshes to prevent entry of insects. The kitchen walls were found to be patchy at places with broken tiles and it was also found to be greasy.
