Hyderabad: A major fire broke out at a furniture manufacturing unit at Narsingi in Rangareddy district on the city outskirts on Monday.

No casualties were reported as the furniture unit was closed when the incident occurred.

Officials suspect a short circuit led to the fire.

Locals noticed thick smoke from the warehouse and alerted the fire department and the police.

Fire personnel from the nearby fire stations were rushed to the spot and flames were doused.

Due to the presence of flammable material like teak wood and foam, the fire spread faster and thick smoke engulfed in the surroundings, officials said, adding that the total worth of the damaged property was yet to be estimated.

The Narsingi police are investigating.
