Hyderabad: A major fire broke out in a provision store in the Monda Market area in Secunderabad on Wednesday evening.

No casualties were reported and a short circuit is suspected to have led to the fire.

Food material, plastic items and other combustible items in the store were gutted in the fire.

Other shop vendors and local residents, who noticed thick fire and smoke engulfing the area, immediately alerted the fire department and police authorities.

Fire personnel rushed to the spot and, with the help of a fire engine, doused the flames within an hour. Necessary precautions were taken to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent shops.

The Monda Market police are investigating the incident.
