Hyderabad: The Kukatpally police on Wednesday arrested a man who was allegedly diverting the attention of salesmen at jewellery shops and decamping with property.
The arrested man, M Sagar (30), a resident of Ameenpur and a native of Karimnagar district, on February 2 went to a jewellery shop in Kukatpally and asked the salesman to show gold rings.
“When the salesman was showing the gold rings, Sagar diverted his attention, replaced the real gold rings with rolled gold rings and left the place carrying the real gold ornaments without being detected,” said Kukatpally Inspector K Venkata Subba Rao. The salesman later realised he was conned and informed the management, which approached the police.
On a complaint, the police registered a case and arrested Sagar. He is involved in three similar offences, the Inspector added.
