Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Task Force on Saturday nabbed a man on charges of impersonating as a superintendent with the Irrigation Department and cheating youngsters after promising them clerical jobs and collecting money.
The arrested suspect was G.Rajendra Prasad alias Prasad alias Krishna Reddy (33), a farmer from Ghanpur mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalpally. He had worked as a ration dealer for a year, before quitting and turning into farming. According to the police, Prasad had a drinking and gambling habit and to make money, he introduced himself to job aspirants as a superintendent with the Irrigation Department, currently posted in the Secretariat.
“He promised to arrange jobs in the Irrigation Department on a commission basis. Four aspirants approached him and paid in lakhs, but he did not arrange any job for them after collecting the money,” police said, adding that he had cheated job aspirants in Parakal, Begumpet, Uppal and Wanaparthy.
Prasad was arrested by the Wanaparthy police in January and was in judicial custody in a prison before being released, after which he resumed the impersonation, and cheated a youngster from SR Nagar after collecting Rs.6.5 lakh. The victim was promised the job of a junior assistant in the Irrigation Department. Based on the victim’s complaint, the SR Nagar police booked a case and with the help of the Task Force, nabbed Prasad.
