Hyderabad: One person died at Uppal after entering into a drainage pipeline through a manhole. Another person is battling for life.
Two labourers Bheema (35) and Naik (35) both natives of Bhuvangiri had entered the drainage pipeline through a manhole at a company in Uppal to clean the choked lines.
“First Bheema went down through the manhole to clear the choked area when he collapsed. Naik, who was standing outside to assist him, tried to go down to pull out Bheema but he too collapsed,” the company management told the police.
The two were pulled out by others and rushed to a private hospital where Bheema was declared brought dead. Naik is under treatment. The Uppal police have shifted Bheema’s body to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary. Investigation is on as to what caused the deaths, with preliminary indications being that he died of asphyxiation.
