Hyderabad: A local fast-track special court for child-related cases has sentenced a man to rigorous life imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl and driving her to suicide, reported in Dundigal in 2018. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him.
The convict, K Shiva Kumar (33), an electrician from Bowrampet, Medchal, had lured the minor girl under the pretext of love, sexually assaulted her and subsequently threatened her when she sought help after suffering health complications. Unable to bear the trauma, the victim ended her life by hanging.
Based on a complaint from the victim’s mother, the Dundigal police had initially registered a suspicious death case. The investigation later revealed that Shiva Kumar was involved.
He was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
